playapps.net got servers in the USA!

We are glad to announce that we now provide USA based slots for playapps.net. These slots are hosted in a new datacenter based in Baltimore, Maryland.

Now, at the creation page, you’ll see a new ‘location’ input box to select the datacenter where your slot will be created.

This step is the first towards getting playapps.net closer to you, wherever you are in the world.

Playapps.net now in public beta!

For the last 6 months we have worked hard to create what we think is the best way to host Play framework based applications. It’s been a long ride,

and we’d like to thank all the developers who helped us to stabilize the platform. We’ve received a lot of requests for Trial slots and we’re really sorry we haven’t been able to satisfy everyone.

But today we are happy to announce that Playapps.net is in public beta! That means that everyone can now host their applications using Playapps. Currently only Basic slots are available, but other offers will be unlocked in the coming few weeks.

The system uses a prepaid account that you can now credit using PayPal. Of course we’ll refund the unused credit if you ever decide to close your Playapps.net account.

For those who currenlty own a Trial slot, your slot has been automatically converted into a Basic slot and it will expire on Monday 20 December. If you have enough credit, the slot will be automatically renewed unless you cancel it before this due date.

The platform is still in beta as we continue to add new features. We have a lot of ideas for the future of Playapps.net, and we’ll blog about it soon.
